Privacy Policy

GrammarGlasses is made by Monocular Labs. It teaches the parts of speech and the structure of a sentence, and to do that it keeps a record of what you have practiced. This page says what that record contains.

What we keep

• Your account. Your email address, and a display name if you give one. Signing in with Google gives us your email, your name and a Google account identifier. We never receive your Google password.
• What you practice. For each unit, the level you have reached and when it is next due for review. For each checkpoint, your score. For each answer, which unit it belonged to, when it happened, whether it was right, and the level the unit landed on.
• Who you are connected to. The organizations whose roster you are on, the instructor assigned to you, and any parent or guardian following your progress.
• Payment. When somebody subscribes, Stripe holds the card and gives us an identifier for the customer and the subscription. Card numbers never reach our servers.

What we do not keep

No advertising identifiers, no location, no contacts, and nothing from your device beyond what you type into the app. There is no advertising in GrammarGlasses, so nothing here exists in order to sell you something.

Counting visits to our public pages

We count visits to the pages you can read without signing in, so we know whether anybody found us. That counting is done by Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, records no advertising identifier, and does not follow you to other sites. It receives the address of the page and nothing else about you.

It stops at the door. Nothing of the kind runs on the pages where you practice, and no page inside GrammarGlasses is reported anywhere.

Who can see your progress

An instructor at an organization whose roster you are on, and a parent or guardian connected to your account. Both can read it. Neither can change it. There is no way for a guardian to mark a unit, reset one, or practice on your behalf, because a parent who can move the numbers is a parent whose child stops believing them.

An organization sees its own roster and nothing else. Two tutoring businesses that share a student learn nothing about each other from that fact, and a parent watching a child at a tutoring business is never shown who else attends it.

Children

A parent may create an account for their child, and an organization may invite a student. A student cannot end a parent’s connection to their account on their own. A parent can, and so can we, on request.

Google user data

If you sign in with Google we ask for your email address, your basic profile and your OpenID identifier, and nothing else. We use them to create your account, to recognize you the next time, and to show your name rather than your email address to your instructor.

We do not use Google data for advertising, we do not sell it, we do not transfer it to anyone beyond the providers below, and we do not use it to train any model. You can disconnect GrammarGlasses at any time from your Google account, and ask us to delete what we hold.

Who else touches it

Only the companies needed to run the service, each doing one job with the least it needs: Supabase stores the data, Vercel serves the site, Resend delivers our email, and Stripe handles payment. We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising.

Keeping it, and deleting it

We keep your account and your progress for as long as your account exists, because not losing that record is what the account is for. Write to us and we will delete it, practice history included. Leaving an organization deletes nothing: your progress is yours and stays with you.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we keep or who can see it, we will say so by email before it takes effect, rather than quietly changing the date at the top.
